India has potential to become an established economic power and in doing so MSMEs would play a vital role and contributing in the growth of economy in terms of industrial production, exports, employment and entrepreneurial base. With the announcement of budget 2021, special emphasis is being given to the development of MSME sector and their growth. The vision is to build all states as the competitive and most favoured investment destinations. MSME sector in States also has to attract investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore and generate 5 lakh jobs in each state and to reach this target and lay the foundation of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
Punjab has a strong base of close to 1.6 lac MSME units truly reflecting the enterprising spirit of the State. With the various initiatives being taken for the economic recovery nationwide, there is need to address challenges being faced by the MSMEs in the State to make it a highly vibrant and dynamic sector. The sector plays a crucial role in providing large employment opportunities at comparatively lower capital cost. MSMEs also help in industrialization of rural & backward areas and development of Khadi & Village Industries in the state, thereby, reducing regional imbalances.
The vision is to facilitate the development of these enterprises, enhance their competitiveness and provides a legal framework for recognition of both manufacturing and services entities. Despite of this sector’s inherent capabilities, MSMEs are facing number of problems and raising credit has become their major problem.
In view of its immense significance, ASSOCHAM is organising Punjab MSME SAMVAAD with the theme “Accelerating Punjab Towards Holistic Growth & Development” on Friday, 18 June 2021 on ASSOCHAM Virtual Platform. Resurgent India is the Knowledge Partner for this initiative.
